Freemium logic
Free users are not overhead. They widen the funnel, drive referrals, and build the network that makes the paid tier worth more. Two numbers decide the model: conversion and paid churn. On a perpetual free tier, 2 to 5 percent converting is typical, above 5 is strong, and best-in-class lands near 10. A timed free trial is a different game and converts far higher. Move either lever and the valuation follows.

Methodology. Valuation uses ARR as the base, adjusted by a composite multiple accounting for business model (B2B commands 1.3-1.6x vs B2C), monthly growth (each 5% above baseline adds ~0.5x), churn-derived LTV, sector, user stickiness, and platform reach. In freemium mode, only paying users generate revenue while the free base supports scale. In transaction mode, revenue is the take rate applied to monthly transaction volume (GMV), the way a marketplace earns. Conservative / optimistic bands reflect -20% and +40% of the central estimate.
